Course Syllabus
- TITLE OF COURSE: CSH1701 - Introduction to Digital Photography
- COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to introduce students to digital photography. Topics covered will include choosing the right camera and sources for learning the features of that camera, how to take better shots, offloading and storing images from the camera, basic digital editing of photos, e-mailing the photos, and making the best prints. Students should know the basics of using a computer and have some knowledge of the Internet and e-mail. For each unit of
credit, a minimum of three hours per week with one of the hours for class and
two hours for studying/preparation outside of class is expected.
- PROGRAM AND/OR DEPARTMENT MISSION STATEMENT: The CIS Program will provide superior learning opportunities in the area of information technology, utilizing state-of-the-art technology, for both CIS majors and non CIS majors to enable all students to achieve their career and/or educational goals.

Students who successfully complete this course will demonstrate the ability to do the following SCCC/ATS Outcomes:

- COURSE OUTCOMES:
Upon completion of the Intro to Digital Photography course with 80% or higher mastery of course competencies, the student should be able to:
- Evaluate different types and models of cameras
- Identify image quality technical terminology
- Demonstrate the ability to use various image correction techniques
- Prepare images for printing

- INSTRUCTIONAL METHODS:
- Instructors will enforce the Academic Honor Code & Cheating Policy as set forth in the SCCC/ATS College Catalog. Students who fail to adhere to this policy will receive an F for the course final grade unless otherwise stated in the instructor’s course policies.

- METHODS OF ASSESSMENT:
- SCCC/ATS Outcomes #1, 5, 6, and 9 will be assessed by a variety of assignments and projects.
